Frosted topping
17.12.09 | First snow of the year
Woke up to find the hills apparently dusted with icing sugar. The sheep rounds were completed with more thoroughness and urgency than of late. Snow flurries at lunch time could signify more to come.
I fed the first bales of this year's hay. It is gratifyingly good - not heavy and damp as the 2008 crop was.
The young female ewes (hogs) comprise two groups - one tame and the other stand-offish and flighty. Moving them between fields today yielded a comedy moment as I tried to sheep-dog the shy ones through the gate whilst being pursued enthusiastically by the tame ones.
